maimai:Grade Certification

Grade Certification (段位認定) is a mechanic that certifies players' skills. It was added in maimai PLUS, and replaced by FiNALE Course in maimai FiNALE. When a player passes a grade, a Collection (Title for blue grades, Name Plates for later versions) is given.

Mechanic

High score

From maimai PLUS to maimai PiNK, except maimai ORANGE and maimai ORANGE PLUS, Grade Certification is done by checking the player's high score of certain songs. If the player has Rank S on all songs for a grade, the player passes that grade.

maiCHALLENGE

In maimai ORANGE and maimai ORANGE PLUS, Grade Certification is done via maimai:maiCHALLENGE. To pass, the player needs to buy a Challenge, and get Rank S on the corresponding songs before the Challenge expires.

Course

From maimai PiNK PLUS to maimai MILK PLUS, Grade Certification is done via a specific course mode, which can only be chosen at Track 1. The player plays 4 pre-determined songs in a specific order, regardless of the arcade's settings, and needs to get Rank S on all 4 songs to pass the grade.

Grade Certification Course only appears if the player has a maimai:Rating of 5.00 or higher.

In 九段 or above, the game ends after the player fails to obtain Rank S on a song.

Courses for 九段 and above are only accessible after the player passed the preceding grade. When playing with multiple players, all participating players can play the course if one or more of them has it unlocked.

Only the current version of 初段 to 七段 grades is available.

To avoid being affected by removals, new grade requirements since PiNK PLUS never contains Pops & Anime songs.

Songs

Grey background indicates removed songs that are no longer part of the requirement.

Yellow background indicates the first song had been removed and was changed to the second song later.

Blue/Original grades (元段位・青段位)　

These grades consists of songs in maimai and maimai PLUS. The grades were called "元x段" ("Original x-Dan") prior to PiNK PLUS, and renamed "青x段" ("Blue x-Dan") in PiNK PLUS to be consistent with grades for later versions.
