『maimai GreeN』より収録された、東京ジョイポリスのデジタリアルアトラクション「HALFPIPE TOKYO」からのナンバー。「LUCIA」と同じくSHIKIさん作曲によるインストゥルメンタルナンバーです。
「Death Scythe」というタイトルは、直訳すると“死の大鎌”。“Scythe”という単語は、そのままで死神が持っている大きな鎌を意味します。そんな攻撃的なタイトルからも感じられるように、「Death Scythe」は楽曲もハードなトランス系のテクノミュージック。SHIKIさんが得意とする、メロディアスかつ激しいナンバーです。古き良きアクションゲームや、シューティングゲーム音楽のテイストを色濃く感じさせる音作り、メロディー作りにも注目です。楽曲の最大のポイントは、インパクト大のブレイクを多用していること。BPM180を越える高速ビートが連続するなか、フッと現れるブレイクに、ドキリとさせられます。

開発の方から「高難易度な感じで頼む」という注文だったので「わかったプレイヤー皆殺しだ」という感じで思いっきり難しくなるように作りました。遊んでくれる皆を狩り殺してやろうという願いを込めて「デスサイズ」と名付けましたので皆さん頑張って死んでください。
多分普通の人にはそう簡単にクリアできる難易度ではないと思うのですが、このサントラを買ってしまうようなmaimaiフリークの皆さん・いつゲーセン行っても軍手はめて洗濯機を殴っている層の方にはこの曲ですらクリアは難しくないようなので次回作『Death Scythe Hell』では更なる絶望を叩きつけたいと思います（なお予定はありません）。
