• Sweets×Sweets first appeared as background music for SEGA's arcade Tetris game, テトリス・デカリス (Tetris Dekaris), also known as Tetris Giant in English-speaking countries. A soundtrack album for the game, 恋のデカリス, was released on December 17th, 2009. [1]
  • Despite this, Sweets×Sweets is treated as a maimai original song. There's no reference to テトリス・デカリス whatsoever in maimai.
  • Team-D refers to Team DEKARIS, an idol group created by SEGA for this game. The game ended up to be a failure, and the group was disbanded soon after. The members would go on to form another group called StylipS.
• The "famous duo" that Hiro mentioned in the artist comments is probably YuiKaori.
• Sweets×Sweets was added to maimai at launch.

人気声優・桃井はるこさんが、「Sweets×Sweets」のタイトルにもぴったりの学園モノ片思いワールドを詞にしたためた、スウィートなラブソング。彼と「～したい」という恋する女の子の願望が、可愛らしく語られています。『ネットワーク対戦クイズ Answer×Answer』を手がけた金谷裕一さんが作曲・アレンジを担当しています。

スタイリッシュな4つ打ちテクノサウンドに乗せたエレクトロ風なボーカルは、某超人気アイドルグループへのリスペクト&オマージュも込められているとか。バックで細かく響いているシンセアルペジオが、楽曲のキラキラ感を加速して、非常に耳馴染みのいいダンスナンバーに仕上がっています。

この「Sweets×Sweets」は巨大なジョイスティックでプレイする『テトリス』として話題になった『テトリス・デカリス』の挿入歌でもありました。PVには思わずマネしたくなる。キュートな振り付けも登場。バックに並んでラインダンスするクマの可愛さもポイントです。

この曲は元々「デカリス」というでっかいテトリスゲームのとして作られた楽曲。パズルゲームなのになぜかBGMが全てアイドル曲風味っていう問題…いや秀作です。そのデカリスの中から『Sweets×Sweets』がmaimaiの世界観に一番マッチするだろうのことで選曲されました。たぶん元のゲームを知っている人は少ないと思われるので他GAME曲なんだけど今回のmaimaiオリジナルCDに収録しました。

作詞はあのモモーイこと桃井はるこさん！キャッチーなメロと桃井さんの歌詞の相乗効果でとてもノリの良いイマドキの楽曲に仕上がってます。歌っているボーカルは有名になった２人組も参加してます。

Translation

This song was originally made for a giant Tetris game called Dekaris. There's this question about why a puzzle game would have all of its BGM sound like idol songs... But it's actually excellent work. Among the songs in Dekaris, Sweets×Sweets seems to fit maimai the most, so it's chosen. Few people probably know about the original game, so even though this was originally from another game, it's included on this maimai original CD.

The lyrics was written by momo-i aka Haruko Momoi! The multiplication effect between the catchy melody and Momoi's lyrics results in an upbeat contemporary song. The singer of this song is also part of the famous duo.
