KALEIDXSCOPE is a game mode serving as a mechanic to unlock exclusive songs in maimai でらっくす PRiSM. It can be considered a successor to maimai FiNALE's PANDORA BOXXX. The mode was added on September 12th, 2024 for the Japan version.

General Information

Note that the following information is based on current observations, and may change once new information is known.

After reaching the end of an Area, the player may encounter a locked "door" that requires a key to unlock. After this happens for the first time, the KALEIDXSCOPE game mode will appear in the mode select screen starting from the next credit, though it will be grayed out and cannot be selected until a key is found.

Special conditions must be fulfilled to obtain keys. Afterward, a notice will appear, and the key can be used in subsequent credits.

After a key has been found, the game mode becomes selectable. A warning will be displayed and the player will be asked to confirm before entering the mode.

Mechanics

Each of the 6 doors corresponds to an original Area within the in-game universe, sporting the emblem of their respective Areas. By selecting a door, its corresponding course will start. For a course to be playable, its corresponding door and key must be found.

  • Keys can be obtained even if their respective doors have not been found.
  • If only one of two players on the same cabinet has fulfilled said conditions, the other player will still be able to play the course, but will not unlock the song or emblem.
  • If there are no playable courses, the game will start on Normal mode instead.

Each course will have three songs, with the following features:

  • A life system is used, where each non-Perfect judgment decreases life by 1. No life bonuses are present between tracks.
    • Unlike maimai DX:Grade Certification's "true grade" courses, a player who ran out of life in multiplayer mode will not be able to continue playing if the other player has not failed.
  • Only difficulties at or above the current unlock threshold can be selected.
  • Life amounts and difficulty thresholds are relaxed based on the number of players who have successfully cleared a course. Currently known life and required difficulty levels are detailed below.
    • The current amount of life is displayed before the course is entered.
    • Conditions are refreshed every day at 4:00AM JST, following routine server maintenance.

0 1 Master
1 10 [1] Master
10[1] 50 Master
100 100 Expert

  • The song list for each course is as follows[2]:
    • Track 1: Random song from respective Area
    • Track 2: Random Perfect Challenge song from respective Area
    • Track 3: Exclusive song
  • After a course is cleared, its exclusive song is unlocked, and the Area's emblem is obtained.
    • Obtained emblems can be viewed on maimai DX NET, along with current life and difficulty requirements, as well as the number of clears required for conditions to be further relaxed.
    • All obtained emblems are displayed on KALEIDXSCOPE's mode select graphic.
