- New cabinets are being released for CHUNITHM NEW. For old cabinets, conversion kits are released, which include renewal of existing hardware components. [1]
- Compared to old cabinets with conversion kits, the new cabinets have the following advantages:
- A 120Hz display
- E-payment support
- A more durable headphone jack
- Different speed, offset, and field wall settings will be saved for 120Hz and 60Hz cabinets.
- However, for the first credit played on CHUNITHM NEW, options are reset, and options set for the last track of the credit would be saved for both 120Hz and 60Hz cabinets. After that, 120Hz and 60Hz settings are saved separately, and can only be set from the corresponding type of cabinets.
- Compared to old cabinets with conversion kits, the new cabinets have the following advantages:
- Data from Course Mode and character ranks will not be carried over.
- Two new AIR note types: AIR SLIDE and AIR CRUSH.
- MAP changes:
- MAPs are no longer linear. Rewards for all areas in a MAP would be shown when the MAP is chosen, allowing players to choose rewards to get in any order.
- However, this is limited to one page (9 rewards). All areas in a page have to be cleared for the next page to be unlocked.
- After an area of MAP is cleared, extra MAP progress (up to 99 steps) is stored until the next credit.
- Playing National Matching and Class Certification awards MAP progress too. In these two modes, MAP progress is applied after the last track.
- In Class Certification, the number of steps is determined by the level of the chart played.
- Mode selection screen is removed.
- MAPs are no longer linear. Rewards for all areas in a MAP would be shown when the MAP is chosen, allowing players to choose rewards to get in any order.
- A new 5th difficulty, ULTIMA, is introduced.
- National Matching is introduced, as a new online matching system. [2]
- After a song is chosen, the player competes with multiple opponents. Battle Rank is introduced, which changes depending on the results of the player's matching.
- This must be chosen before the first track.
- This mode allows 4 songs to be played in a credit.
- This mode is selectable only from 11:00 to 21:59 (JST).
- Different cabinets in the same arcade will not be matched in this mode.
- An avatar (Chuni penguin) now appears during play. Costumes for it can be obtained in National Matching. [3]
- Class Certification replaces Course Mode. However, it is functionally the same.
- Skill changes:
- All character-specific skills have been removed, and only a standard set of 12 skills appears. "Skill Seeds" will be added according to the skills the player has obtained.
- Skills can now be upgraded with Skill Seeds, to improve the rate of gauge increase.
- Ticket updates:
- Tickets which can be purchased with in-game currency can now be purchased on the ticket selection screen, at the start of a credit. Additionally, tickets can now be purchased in bulk on CHUNITHM-NET, and can no longer be purchased from the user box.
- WORLD'S END play tickets can now be purchased for in-game currency. WORLD'S END is now also playable when using the CHUNITHM-NET standard ticket or MAP progress boosting tickets.
- Options updates:
- Speed can now be selected in 0.25x increments up to 15.00x speed, and 1.0x increments from 15x to 20x.
- Track skip, similar to the maimai series, can now be used. This ends the track if a certain grade is not reached. This can only be used during regular play.
- As in オンゲキ R.E.D. PLUS and maimai でらっくす Splash, timing adjustment has been split into "judgement timing A" (adjusts the sync of the music to the chart) and "judgement timing B" (adjusts the position of the timing window).
- Guide and hit sound volume range is changed to be from 0 (off) to 10. 8 is equivalent to the previous 5, whilst 5 is equivalent to the previous 3. It can additionally be changed so that hit sounds only play when getting MISS, ATTACK or below, or JUSTICE or below.
- TAP hit sounds can be changed to the style used in オンゲキ.
- The borders to S+, SS+, and SSS+ can now be placed on the field (where combo normally appears).
- FAST and LATE JUSTICE CRITICAL can now be viewed.
- A timing breakdown graph is now viewable on the result screen.
- Judgment text ("JUSTICE CRITICAL" etc.) during gameplay can now be hidden.
- For costume, title, name plate, map icon, and system voice, only items obtained in the current credit can be set in the user box. To use items obtained before, set them on CHUNITHM-NET, which is now possible without a standard membership subscription.
- In the item shop in the new CHUNITHM-NET, the price is reduced.
- A ticket now costs 40pt instead of 50pt, and a スタチュウ now costs 75pt instead of 100pt. The limit on the number of items that can be purchased is not changed.
- Once a month, a ticket can be bought for 10pt, and a スタチュウ can be bought for 20pt.
- The difficulty scale has been modified to be from 1-15. [4]
- Level 11+ and below are unchanged. Level 12 and above are changed as follows:
Old 12 12+ 13 13+ 14 New 12 12+ 13 13+ 14 14+ 15
- New difficulty "ULTIMA" introduced, unlockable by getting rank SS on both EXPERT and MASTER.
- Buying an "ULTIMA play ticket" can temporarily unlock it.
