往年のセガゲームミュージックを、有名コンポーザーが大胆アレンジした [Reborn] シリーズ。セガを代表するコンポーザーのひとり、光吉猛修さんによる『デイトナUSA』の楽曲を、『リッジレーサー』のサウンドクリエイターとして知られるバンダイナムコスタジオの大久保博さんがアレンジするという、有名レースゲーム同士による、ビッグなコラボレーション曲となっています。実はこのコラボはもともと、PS Vita版「リッジレーサー」用のダウンロードコンテンツとして、大久保さんアレンジ・光吉さん歌唱による「RIDGE RACER (RIDGE RACER USA MIX)」があり、その縁で実現したものです。

高鳴るトランペットと光吉ボーカルがハートを熱くする男性的な原曲に対して、このアレンジは、ピアノのバッキングに乗せた女性コーラスがふんだんにフィーチャーされたオシャレさ満点なものになっています。

ビデオゲーム「デイトナＵＳＡ」の上級コースBGM『Sky High』のmaimai用アレンジ『Sky High [Reborn]』を担当させていただきました、バンダイナムコスタジオの大久保です。

以前からセガの光吉さんと「いつか一緒になんだやらかしたいですよね…」という話をさせていただいていた結果、２０１２年に「リッジレーサー」と「デイトナＵＳＡ」という歴史的なコラボを実現することができました。その流れもあってのmaimaiアレンジ曲参加。

セガサウンド大好きな僕にとって、またこういったメーカー同士のコラボレーションに参加できることが本当にうれしかったです。「デイトナＵＳＡ」中でも特に好きだった『Sky High』。原曲とはだいぶカラーが違いますけど、ゲーム中に感じた高い青空のイメージを思い出しながら楽しくアレンジさせていただきました。ゲームとあわせて楽しんでください。
