Several songs in SEGA rhythm games originate from Be-Music Source (BMS) files. In fact, maimai started the trend of licensing BMS songs for commercial rhythm games; according to コハD, he was inspired by the works of Cranky to add BMS music to the game. This has spread to pretty much every rhythm game out there.
