Profile

A long-time composer for SEGA, Jun has worked for SEGA since 1993, with his first project being Sonic the Hedgehog 3, released the following year. Although he's worked on several SEGA titles, including METAL HEAD, NASCAR Arcade, and the J.LEAGUE VICTORY GOAL series, Jun is best known for his work in the Sonic series. From Sonic Adventure through Shadow the Hedgehog, he was the main sound director of the Sonic series, and composed music for other entries in the series until 2011's Sonic Generations. After Sonic Adventure became a success, in 1999 he moved to San Francisco and joined Wave Master, SEGA's then music division, where he continued to compose music until Sonic Team USA closed in 2007. He returned in Japan and continues to do music for the occasional SEGA game, even returning to his old role of sound director of the Sonic series with 2023's Sonic Superstars.

Outside of SEGA, Jun is the lead guitarist of the band Crush 40 with American vocalist Johnny Gioeli. Together the two have done many of the best-known vocal songs in the Sonic series, including Live & Learn, Open Your Heart, and What I'm Made Of. The two have been performing together since 1998, both in and out of the Sonic series.
