• The original version of MEGALOVANIA was composed for Radiation's Halloween Hack, a ROM hack of EarthBound.
• MEGALOVANIA was inspired by several pieces of video game music, including Megalomania from LIVE A ƎVI⅃, for which it was intended as a direct replacement for its original appearance (as Toby Fox intended to insert this song into the hack, but never got round to it).
• Another pre-UNDERTALE version of MEGALOVANIA appears as part of the Homestuck online multimedia project.
• A spiritual sequel to MEGALOVANIA, titled Megalo Strike Back, appears on the fan album, I Miss You - EarthBound 2012. It has since been used in several UNDERTALE-based fan projects.
• A remixed version of MEGALOVANIA appears in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, where Sans is a downloadable playable skin. This version briefly features the melodies of Heartache and Bonetrousle, two other pieces of battle music from UNDERTALE.

Trivia

• MEGALOVANIA originates from the 2015 RPG UNDERTALE. It is used for the final battle with Sans at the end of the Genocide Route.
• MEGALOVANIA was added to CHUNITHM NEW at launch in all three regions.
• Before the music begins in MEGALOVANIA's MASTER chart, a sequence of several AIR CRUSH notes appears. This is a reference to the battle in UNDERTALE, where Sans attacks before the battle (and music) begins, uniquely among UNDERTALE bosses.
  • Later in the chart, more references to Sans' attack patterns appear.
• The note designer credit of the MASTER chart refers to the UNDERTALE battle menu. "PHOENIX" replaces the "MERCY" option, which is entirely useless in the context of this battle (as the player has become irredeemable at this point, and so Sans will never accept mercy).
• MEGALOVANIA was added to オンゲキ bright MEMORY on March 7th, 2024.
  • It received a LUNATIC chart on the same day, which can be unlocked by accumulating ? pt. in the March 2024 Monthly Missions.
